[s-cars] ECU Fuse - Bentley - Frayed Wiring

Manny,
Have you tried a fuse, 5 or 15A since repairing the frayed
insulation? It should only cost a fuse if the short hasn't been
corrected. Unfortunately, I am
looking at a paper edition of Bentley so I can't correlate diagram
numbers with you. I am on page X804/805 titled electronic box for
100 (A6) all models
(USA and Canada) model year 1995, (S6 up to July 1995).
Black connector, fuse, MAF, G70
Brown connector, fuse, O2S, oxygen sensor heater, Z19, Z28
Red connector, fuse, injectors, N30, N31, N32, N33, N83, N84
Yellow connector, fuse, ignition coil, J192, N, N128, N158
For S6 from July 1995, wiring diagram pages X1068/1069 the brown
connector is not used, and (S72)? is added to the red connector and
(S103)? is added
to the yellow connector.
Yeah, I know, that's six injectors and more coil connectors than
exist in one car. That's where experience come in. :-)
Now, disregard all that, since the '96 diagrams for S6 from July '95
on page X1098 (which I found from the index for diagram #95-21 on
page X973) simply list:
Black connector, fuse (S75) for Solenoid Valves
Brown connector, Fuse (116) for injectors
Red connector, Fuse (102) for Motronic ECM
Yellow connector, Fuse (S115) for ignition coils
So, you can see the source of confusion. My cars bridge the
difference and are indeed different. I believe the 5A fuse in the
red connector protecting the
ECM is the important one not to use a larger fuse. Oh yeah, I have
15A fuses in the yellow connector for both vehicles. I haven't
looked for where the MAF
signal is fused, if at all, but if I look at the '97 index it sends
me back to page X1068/1069 with black connector for MAF fuse. As
long as this fuse doesn't
blow I don't plan to look further. Anyway, this last list is what
your configuration should be except for the MAF instead of solenoid
valves? which must be
a V6 item and it correlates with the fuse arrangement you found.
