As some of you may remember, I had some stuff stolen, including my keys,
last month on a trip abroad.

Just an FYI regarding the solution for replacing my stolen remote. My S6 is
an early build vehicle, and it is my understanding that the key system for
the 95.5 is different. The remote function may be the same, but I'm not sure
about this.

However, if you have an early '95 S6 you can reprogram remotes from a
similar year S4's (note: you will need two working keys, one for the
ignition and one for the door to do this, per the owner's manual, as most of
you probably already know. If you have questions on how this works, ask me).

I did this, then cut the metal part of the key off, making a remote "fob"
that works quite nicely.

I was able to score the remote from a lister for $25. Much cheaper than
going to the dealer and buying one.

Chris at Force 5 also has some of these remotes available (should you
need/want one). I may just get a second one from him just in case I lose my
keys or thieves strike again.
