No surprises that there are a lot of skiers who swear by quattro. The best
cars for the money in the snow, IMO.
For those of you wanting to get the same performance from your skis as you
do from your cars, check out the following sticks:
Fat-ypus A'lotta: hands down the very best fat ski out there. With
approximately 200 pairs made each year, it has the advantage of being like a
'95 S6. In other words, you won't see too many on other people's feet.
Line Prophet 100: Great western ski for those who like to haul ass through
powder and crud really nice.
Palmer: Available next season, this snowboarding company's twin tip is a
very versatile ski, good for carving, crud, with a sandwich construction,
ideal eastern ski for those who come out west, on vacation.
Liberty Helix: also debuting in 2007/2008, this ski is almost a one ski
quiver. Lots of fun and limited distribution. A nice combo for those who
want something different.
Salomon Gun: very easy to ski fat ski. Great for powder days and carves
pretty well, too. Shorter lengths good for the ladies.
You will not that my recommendations do not include mogul skis (any old
straight ski will ski bumps as well as the new "mogul" skis) or racing skis.
I hate bumps and I retired from ski racing a decade ago.
MAC: With all this ski talk, it's making me think we should try to do a
//ski //fest. I'm thinking the last day of the season at Loveland ski area,
in Colorado (early May). If there is enough interest I'll set it up with
discounted group tickets, etc.
