[s-cars] what tires to get ?

Having a set of Falken FK451 on my //S6 and a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3
on my Saabaru, here's what I can say about both.
The Falken are quiet, grippy dry and wet and compared to the Eagles, soft in
sidewall with slower responses, kind of an ultra-high perforance (as in
grippy) touring tire. Pretty well suited to the //S6, but personally not
sporty enough for me.
The Goodyear are not as quiet (hard to truely evaluate here, the Saabaru,
being an eSaab because it's really a Subaru) grippy dry and wet (possibly
somewhat more grippy than the Falkens dry, not quite as grippy wet, again
since different platforms, YMMV) comparatively stiff sidewall
(although not quite
as stiff as the Falken RT615, they're not far off having riden in several so
shod cars with them ) so much more responsive than the FK451. If you're
sporting and willing to have a firmer sort of ride, these are an exceptional
tire (way outscored the vaunted Kumho MX in TireRack/Car & Driver's comparo,
avalible at TireRack.com). If you were happy with the FK451's or the Yoko
ES100 (which are being replaced BTW, so buy a set of ES100's with caution
unless you buy 5 or 6 or whatever), then I'd suggest going back to the
FK452's (which, IMHO look exactly the same), or considering the Conti's
(which finished just below the GY F1 GSD3, by being an all rounder, not
sharp at anything, but by being good all around), but having no experience
with the Conti's I have no idea on their ride/noise characteristics.
BTW, the TireRack/C&D comparo did not do ANY evaluation on noise/ride
characteristics b/c it was intended to be a performance priortity comparo,
NVH be damned. Just thought that was important to point out.
