Hmmm... in retrospect, I guess you *might* have done a recall check on
the S6 cars in general from NHTSA and then gotten a recall compliance
check on your specific car from Audi to see if they had all been done. 
That would have showed up the "missing" ignition switch replacement -
and saved you the quagmire you are in now.  But that is in the past.
 
For now, you can certainly try to get Audi to replace both the ignition
switch and the starter.  However,  my guess is that they will say they
will do the switch but it was not their fault that you failed to
disengage the starter soon enough (that resulted in the starter being
spun at engine speed).   And that would be your point of debate. Ad
nausem.
 
Starters are not that expensive, e.g. FAP99 has them for about $120
(rebuilt)

You can try to get a starter out of Audi but, in the end, I imagine
that you are just going to have to suck it up and replace it yourself.
