No offense, but cheap, fun and AWD European cars don't go in the same
sentence.

The closest that I can think of that fits your description is a E46 325xi,
which isn't
that cheap. All of the more interesting Audis are very expensive, either to
maintain or
to buy or both (UrQ 20v, SportQ, RS2, B5 RS4, B7 RS4, A5 S3).

BTW, the E46s will blow the doors off of a B5, B6 or B7 A4, in terms of
handling and driver feedback.

Have you even driven any of the cars I suggested? An ITR will destroy pretty
much any Audi
short of a seriously track-prepped car (gutted, full cage, 5 figure chassis
and suspension work, etc.).
