[s-cars] VLAC - need electrical crimper help

Dave:

The crimper pictured does a "w" crimp and is used on the terminals pictured
to the right. This is an OE style terminal. You are correct, it takes two
hits, one to crimp the bare wire and the other to crimp / grab the
insulation. IMHO, these type of terminals are the best and they are very
strong because it holds the wire in place.

If you are using open barrel butt connectors that are insulated, that are
typically found in generic parts stores, then you can use a generic crimping
tool that makes a half-moon shape. The crimper pictured does these crimps as
well.

If your butt connectors are uninsulated, then I recommend using a crimp tool
with a notch in it.

When I make a butt connection, I use uninsulated butt connectors, make the
crimp with a notch crimper and use heat shrink tubing, I find those generic
butt connectors to be very poor quality and not strong.

Hope this helps,

Sean
