[s-cars] VLAC - need electrical crimper help

I used a set of crimpers identical to those you listed for years. They
have the proper "W" crimp die and did the job. You do have to crimp
twice, once for the bare wire, then switch to the next larger opening
for the insulation crimp.

What I found though was that it doesn't fully support the terminal
during the crimp and can bend it. Not that big of a deal, though
potentially could crack between the two crimps I suppose.

I do a lot of rewiring, so I wanted a better solution. I'm always a
proponent of using the right tool for the job. The Paladin 8026 is what
I use now. Not much more than the $50 Waytek is charging for a $20
crimper.

It has interchangeable dies so you can get additional dies for other
types of crimps if you have multiple needs. Absolutely a joy to use and
you have a factory like crimp.

While you could make a crimp with just about anything, the key to a good
connection is a tight crimp with good compression of the wire strands.
This may not be as crucial on something like a sensor lead, but it is
critical on high draw items such as headlights. A poor crimp will have
a high resistance, which will cause the joint to overheat and become
brittle over time.
