[s-cars] How much rust should one expect to appear on a stainless steel exhaust?

Depends on the stainless.  304 will typically only turn tan-ish.  316 typically "blues" a little, but that's about it.  Lower grades (309) will rust more rapidly, but it will still take extremely long to actually decay to any significant extent.  I believe the stock downpipes are 309.

Just out of curiousity how much rust should accumulate on the
tainless steel exhaust systems.  I understand that all metals rust at
omepoint but what is the general accepted level of surface rust over
ay 1 light winter or there after?
