That's an easy one. Many of them don't - simple as that. Look at a  
1.8t thats had oil changes at the factory 10k, the inside of the valve  
cover is pure gook and many of them have already blown up well shy of  
150k. Not only that but 150k isn't terribly difficult, but theres no  
way a 10k oil change engine will match the 300,000+++ capability of  
the older VAG engines.
