Sludge is due to poor maintenance, it's not the PCV system, it ends up all
in the engine itself. Make sure the car you get is running synthetic oil
that meets the VW 505.? spec and has had regular oil changes at least every
5k miles. It's due to the oil lines being too small and prone to coking.
