my turn for the PS hose leaks. i figured out where the pentosin is going. there's a hose that runs from the rearmost port on the PS pump, under the throttle body and idle air bypass, and to a spiral of hardline that appears to attach to the power steering rack (not sure, i couldn't see that well) near the firewall. this hose attaches to the PS pump with a big banjo that's directly underneath the leading edge of the intake manifold.
is this the PS to steering rack hose? is the list consensus to replace this hose with a new part, or to repair it at HOH? if replacement with new is advised, what's a good source for the part?
is this the same part? it's listed as being for 100, A6 1992-97 with the 2.8.

Must be ESP, Eric. I can't deduce which hose Mark needs repaired
from this
information. The 350 CAD is too much for a steering hose but a great
price for a
J hose, that is if someone actually sells one at that price. That is
probably the
reason they don't have one for sale. :-)
The J-hose has a restrictor in the hose as well, that HOH installs in
the repair.
They offer overnight service as well if you want to pay the fedex
charges.
Ok, Mark, which hose is it? HOH is good at the J-hose repair,
producing a hose
stronger and easier to install than the OEM, and $400 cheaper. They
have said
they have a problem keeping the steering hose restrictor and that
repair has mixed
reviews, most stating the pump pulses and noise transmit to the
rack. That OEM hose
sells for ~$250 so the savings are correspondingly less.
I would get the J-hose repaired at HOH, but would buy a new steering
hose.
Tom, my 0.02 CAD at no charge.
