[s-cars] Power steering hose (was Spokane HOH)

You seem to have described the power steering hose part # 4A1 422 893  
Q , Teddy, even if you can't see it well.  This hose has mixed  
reviews for a repair job, with a few reports of pulsing in the  
steering.  It was running about $250 to $275 for a new hose so my  
advice was buy new.  It is not the same hose at Blau, but I don't  
know why Audi
didn't make it the same.

I can only suggest a dealer that gives Audi Club discounts or ECS.   
On this note Clair Audi claims to give big discounts, and Carson  
Heter at Riverside Audi parts has been
advertising on the allroad forum any OEM parts at 15% over dealer  
cost to AW members.  I don't see that being an exclusive club that  
could exclude anyone.  E-mail is cheter at riversideaudi.com. or 201 758  
1600 ext 122.  I know he has delivered on allroad parts and some  
others, but I have no direct knowledge or connection.  You can get
OEM parts online at www.worldimpex.com.  I use them for lots of stuff  
and use them to check OEM prices even if planning to buy elsewhere.   
Impex is not as responsive as
other sites if you need a part immediately.

If you look at the many usual aftermarket parts sellers online, many  
have a listing for the part but not in stock.  There is some helpful  
information there though, with the
banjo bolt sizes and the aluminum sealing washers at the rack.  These  
are the ones that are easy to remove but a real challenge to replace,  
especially the banjo bolt with an aluminum washer on each side  back  
on the rack where you couldn't see very well and can't get your hands  
in there very well either.  :-)   My thoughts are you only want to do  
this job once, so do it right.  On the other hand, look at the return  
line from the rack with its many pieces of hard line and hose  
connections down on the frame rail and hope you don't have to replace  
that.    HTH
