[s-cars] Thermostat and O-Ring

Ring is on the top to seal the coolant in.  I believe the 20V part is metal
and fits AAN (listers?)....  might try SJM to avoid the stealer.

Continuing on in my engine guts project, I come to the thermostat
replacement.  My question is, does the O-ring go between the stat and the
block, or the stat and the plastic gooseneck attached to the water hose?

Both the Bentley and the Family Album show the o-ring on the topside
(gooseneck) of the stat.  However, the one I removed had the o-ring on the
underside.

I managed to hose this up further by breaking the gooseneck upon tightening
it down after putting in the new stat (with ring on underside).  Sigh,
another part on order from the stealer.

What's the consensus?
