[s-cars] poll for best gear oil

I live where winter gets below 20 degrees F regularly.

When I switched to Redline in my GTi, shift action when cold got
significantly better. Same with my 4KQ.

No noticable change in either my 200Q nor my S6, but that is likely due to
the fact that both of those
cars were likely factory fill..;which is specified to be synthetic anyway by
Audi. That explained why
theere was no noticable effect. It already had synth.

FWIW, I accidentally (before I knew about this list) filled my 200Q's
gearbox with Mobil 1 GL5 gear oil.
Eventually, the slicker GL5 spec made the synchros stop doing their job, the
gearbox got graunchy.
A switch to Redline MT-90 and about 200 miles got things back to normal
again.

So, I'd agree with what Rich has to say, there may have been problems with
Mike's friend's tranny. IMHO,
Redline (or probably any other proper synth GL4 fluid) and the list "saved"
my 200Q's tranny.
