[s-cars] big reds still feel soft

I don't have any issue with Hawk HPS on a bunch of different cars.
Brake feel that poor sounds like you either have a problem with your master
cylinder, your brake lines or the brake system was not properly bled. I've
had issues with brake bleeding on Audis- seems like they like to be bled
twice- bleed once, then turn the car on, ABS system does something, then
pedal feels goes crappy, bleed again and everything is good. I don't know
the reason- I've had this issue on my 200 with the Porsche brakes (I never
bled the system with the stock brakes, so I don't know if this is specific
to my old car).
With regard to brake squeal, I had the vibration dampers fitted in the
pistons and a decent application of brake grease on the backing plates- no
issues with squeal, although HPS for 996 calipers is a taller and shorter
pad than the 993tt pads.
I don't have issues with brake squeal on my two cars with Brembos right now-
the STi has Hawk HPS, the V70R has Axxis Deluxe. I don't recommend the
Deluxe because of the soft initial feel and overall lack of bite, but
they're a really low-dust street pad and very inexpensive. I don't like
Textars because they're too dusty- otherwise they're fine for street use.
I'm going with Porterfield R4S next time around- they get good reviews for
street use- I'll be using them on the Miata first, but they're well regarded
on Porsches for street use.
