Let's start at the beginning. You did not mention the year/make/
model vehicle or
it's location. There are significant differences in US vehicles. A
'97 S6 may have
some of the newer sensors as options since I believe it uses the
immobilizer key.
You could look at a later model vehicle that could contain the
immobilizer warning
light and a description of its function in the owners manual. It may
just be the
system verifying correct operation if it is flashing just after
start. There is also an
alarm sensor for the car interior but it has a switch to turn it
off. It looks like a speaker
or sound wave with wire or a pine tree through the car profile.
