Elvisman,
You are one brave S man!
BTDT too many times underneath and now beg to outsource. But I am
admittedly now a baby.
That said, one thing to consider is that bracket that holds a coolant
pipe on the drivers side.
It fits sooo perfectly into a recess in the bell housing that it looks
like it belongs there. It really does.
It does not belong there and IME could preclude a flywheel from
turning since it is about eight inches of heavy metal. This bracket
is really supposed to be attached to a bolt OUTSIDE of the bellhousing
that secures it to the motor.
The bad news IIRC is that the only way to pull this back into proper
position is to back off the bell housing again, which in effect is
almost the same as a do over anyhoo. The bracket has I think two
slight S curves.
Maybe the bell housing could be just loosened, the bracket cut off and
maybe the piece fished out from the bottom but I dont think so..
worth a looksee though.. if this is the problem.
