They use magnesium chloride which is more corrosive than salt. It is also 
harder to clean off the car after it has been on for a while.  They also use 
a product call ice slicer, which is fine sand and salt.  So, we have plenty 
of corrosive materials to deal with,  but the low humidity seems to help in 
not rusting out the cars as badly as those on the East coast.
