Was the EDL on the UrS significantly different than the EDL on the B5 S4's?
My '01 S4 EDL works pretty darn good. I can count on one hand the number of
times I used my differential locks in my 3 200's and my '92 UrS. The EDL on
the other hand is always there. I know in theory it can only do 50% of what
the diff-lock can do but having driven both systems in the Denver area I
think both have their merits and downsides. I just wish there was a factory
button to disable the EDL. Of course if you are in 12" of powder up to your
bumper split with an H&R coil-over suspension and come to a complete stop
the EDL system can make your brakes a little warm as you make your way out
of the snow.....or so I've heard ;) Quattros truly are amazing.

I don't recall an EDL switch on my 95.5 UrS. If you have a '93 100, it
has a locking rear diff (quattro II) and pressing the rear diff switch will
disable the
3 channel (both rear wheels same channel) ABS. Just like my friend's
100CSQA.
In late 95(.5) Quattro III has no mechanical rear diff lock, 4 channel
ABS, and it utilizes the independent rear channels to approximate
a locking rear diff, hence Electronic Differential Lock (EDL). Aside from
the
better braking under stress, EDL sucks. Hence the idea of the Torsen
conversion.
