Mike,

I was searching the list archive on a different project when I just
ran across your old message. Did you get this resolved satisfactorily?

The two parts are not the same, the connector is different since
there is less room for the longer 191 part, but without the plastic
socket
and replacing the connector with insulated spades, it will work in
the center console. The rear seat A/C duct runs under the socket.

Actually, I have both lighters on my desk, and you are welcome to the
part you need, the 4A0 919 305B. If that works for you, let me know.

My advice is buy an new lighter, though. The reason is, the lighter
socket became smaller in 2002, so some sockets for cell phones, GPS, etc,
don't fit well and actually short out the socket or don't
charge properly (bad for cell phone just when you need it). That's
the
reason I have these good parts. I replaced with 996-652-101-10-A05
Cigarette (lighter), which is a Porsche retrofit socket and 996-652- 102-10
lighter and the Audi 8D0-919-343 expansion (red light
surround). You will need 3 insulated spade connectors as with the 191 part
since the new lighter plastic connector is too long as well and
the light is included in the new expansion surround (LED, I presume) The
Audi lighter that goes with this is 4B0-919-305-C-01C (socket and
lighter), but it costs about 5 bucks more :-) , and it's identical
except
for the part # and has to be trimmed as well. This is because
Porsche has an update kit for older cars, Audi didn't bother.

Want to stay OEM, you can have mine. If you decide on new, I recommend:

siteid=214407> which is Miramar Audi in San Diego

Or, Riverside Audi in NJ:
<http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=215021>

Both are online sales for an authorized dealer, so you get genuine
parts and the 12 month Audi warranty, and the prices beat my local dealer by
a wide margin even with club discounts, although you have
to register with Carson Heter at Riverside for the discount.

Tom
