[s-cars] No Boost

HI Jake,
And, welcome to the list that solves many problems. Don't insult the
list intelligence right at the start, though, by proclaiming you
already know the problem doesn't lie in the turbo
or hoses, when we know it probably does, or the controllers for the
turbo, unless you are not using correct fuel for the IA chip or have
a add on boost controller that is demanding
boost levels above the IA program. If you have a genuine overboost,
that needs fixing now.
But, let's start at the beginning--got problems?-- observe all
symptoms, read, record, and clear any DTCs ( and report those here,
too). If you don't have a VAG-COM or a friendly
neighbor with one, http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/ has the
information you need. You probably can use his troubleshooting
information, anyway. You are probably right that
the Samco hoses didn't split, but you want to make sure, and the MM
hose is very stiff and can appear securely clamped with no boost, but
make sure it is not the stiff hose holding
it in place until high boost moves it back. There is a plastic
crossover pipe and plastic ends on the intercooler to eliminate as
problems as well, unless you have a FMIC in place
of these parts. Wherever stage 3+ takes you in 5th gear overboost,
the piping needs to hold pressure at that level. Make sense? If it
does, then look at the controls, WG and WGFV,
and the vacuum lines to them. Maybe the trouble codes shortened this
somewhat, but not likely.
Is this the total of your "nothing but problems with the S6"?
Because, this may be frustrating, but it is just a small problem.
Since the solution has eluded you so far, I recommend
looking through the FAQ section in the audiworld forum as well as
SJM's troubleshooting guide for a methodology others have used to
successfully fix the problem.
The turbo may have visual play when there is no oil pressure on the
center shaft bearing. Probably is no problem unless it smokes
excessively.
I, too, doubt the custom exhaust plays any part here. I might wonder
why someone with problems is wasting money there, though.

I have been having nothing but problems with my Ur-S6, the PO really
promised me a great running car, but really he was just milking money
out of me. I was driving on the freeway the other morning passing a
car in 5th gear - the car started to boost like normal but then when
i was parallel with the car my boost cut out completely and i was
stuck with no power. Startled, I got to my destination and turned the
car off. When I got back in a number of hours later, the car boosted
just fine again, for about a pull, but then the turbo would spool no
longer.
the only thing that has changed performance wise in the car was a
custom exhaust that was put in about 3 weeks ago - consists of a
magnaflow Y pipe after the cats into 2.5 inch piping to a straight
through muffler in the rear.
I dont think that would be causing any issues but I just thought I
might put that in there
