Dave,

I'd agree with your tire sizing...or maybe 245/40/17 which may give 
less tramlining.

225s are too small on an 8" rim.

And unless I were driving on smooth roads in SoCal I would not run 18s.

There is a lot of controversy over whether larger wheels actually 
provide better handling. I believe that the 17" size actually gives 
the optimal balance between handling, ride, looks, etc. And the 
suspensions on the C4 were designed to work with the give that a 
sidewall on a 16" tire provides. You go too stiff and you're not 
working with the suspension and the natural sway of Miss Piggy.
