Paul,
to replace the CPS you do have to remove the cam sprocket, but you
can leave the timing belt in place and cable tie the belt to the
sprocket. Done this way you can complete the swap in as little as
45 minutes.
To do a timing belt R&R you are looking at considerably more time.
