[s-cars] I want my MPG

How many miles does the O2 sensor have on it? I can definitely testify from
putting an old (>100k miles) and operating perfectly fine sensor on an
O-scope and then following that with a brand new sensor the new sensor was
definitely crossing much more frequently and was less "lazy" in crossing.

i installed a new set of F5DP0R plugs and the misfire is gone. the car
pulls cleanly to redline at WOT, so i can rule out ignition coils and POS.
however, block 9, O2 sensor adaptation, is still low, at 71 now. the engine
is running great, and if i hadn't already used VAG-COM on the car, i
wouldn't know there was anything wrong.
i'm debating whether to replace the O2 sensor. the shop said the O2 sensor
was fine, and the low O2 sensor adaptation reading seems to be consistent
with the low number of crossings in the lambda readings (which are averaging
over 1).
bentley suggests the following:
1. check O2 sensor (road test, presumably to get everything hot)
2. check MAF
3. check fuel pressure
4. check for leaks in intake tract
which would you do first? i already did the road test.

by the way, anybody know where to find a description of the other groups in
VAG-COM? group 003 showed the last block with the label "temperature" and
the value was between 58 and 65 degrees C. is this intake charge
temperature? a quick read of bentley turned up nothing about group 003 in
bentley - or any group other than 000, for that matter.

i just used VAG-COM on the car. it's reading 206, which according to
bentley, is within spec (range 184-215 and appears to correlate to 185-220
deg. F). i was looking at group 000, block 1. bentley says this field is
the engine coolant temperature.
here's group 000:
206 022 080 128 098 129 056 129 066 037
note that block 9 has a value of 66. this is O2S adaptation, and normal
range is 100-141. the car was pretty hot after a 20 mile trip on the
freeway, and a short stop at the store. i got home and left it running
while i ran the codes. block 8, O2S control, is 128 (spec 123-133). i
already tightened the clamps on the samco hose between the MAF and the
turbo. not sure what's going on here.
shop said the O2 sensor was OK, but maybe i should replace it?

Mark: I know you suggested the temp sensor before. That is why I made my
earlier post,
regarding the location and function of the G62 temp sensor:

I think that your temp sensor suggestion was an excellent one and that
Teddy should pursue (sp?) that one over all others (at least initially).
