Based on the movement I"m seeing in the strut it's worth taking a look.
Others have suggested similar things.  It appears I'll have to pull the
strut insert anyway.

Just make sure it is proper German duct tape, and not mislabled Meyle. Blau
duct tape: NOT GOOD.
