Hi Bruce,

My guess is that for the buyer to offer a premium over the advertised  
price, he
would have to know that the seller was offered his asking price  
already, and
thus, probably knew a deal had been made, and offered the seller  
money to
renege on the deal.  Just a guess, as I wasn't there.  :-)

Maybe both parties have been stockbrokers and arbitrage bankers so long
that they think this is acceptable behavior in all transactions.
