Probably true. However, I can't imagine those guys sacrificing handling for a bit of straight line traction, so I would guess that the wider tires in the rear certainly don't impede the handling.

I think it's safe to say there's more weight in the rear of an F1 or Champ car than in the front. Wider rear wheels are there for one thing...getting more rubber on the pavement when putting the power down....
