[s-cars] Splitting the driveshaft

I've got my driveshaft out.  (What a pain but that's a different issue). 
I've also go the bolt holding the 2 halves together out, but the halves 
won't split with moderate persuation from a hammer.  I've afraid of 
destroying something if I beat on it on it harder.  Are there any tricks to 
getting the yoke off of the spline?

Also, there's a bit of play in the driveshaft front CV.  Does that 
automatically mean that it's shot?  These are expensive little buggers.
