Ummmm....having not rebuilt an Audi engine my opinion may be incorrect, but
for all the engines Irebuild you definitely don't use a cracked cyclinder
head.  These engines, although rare, are now "popping up" pretty regularly
and I certainly wouldn't sacrifice an engine rebuild for lack of an
un-cracked head.

The machine shop just called regarding my head, they say there is a crack
from the spark plug down to the valve seat in cylinder 5. They also said
that it
 was no big deal.
What is your opinion?

I know that cylinder heads develop cracks etc. should I be worried?
