[s-cars] How to dump codes?

So, the S6 has stranded me for the first time. :( Short version:
Was running some errands today. Parked at the store for about 20
minutes, and when I went to leave, the car would not start. It would
crank quickly, but there was no hint of the engine trying to "catch". I
poked under the hood for a while, looking for something obvious, but could
see nothing.
After about 10 minutes or so, the car finally started and ran like there
was never a problem. Got home, shut the car down, and restarted it.
Started right up like there was never a problem. A few hours later, went
to go out. Car started right up and off I was. After about 5-6 miles,
the Check Engine light came on. Car was running fine, but to be safe I
pulled over and shut the car down. Poked around again, saw nothing
obvious, went to restart, and nothing. Just like before. Car cranks
fine, but no hint of the engine trying to catch.
After about 30 minutes of playing, car finally started again. Drove it
the 5-6 mile home. After 2-3, Check Engine Light came back on. But
otherwise car ran fine. Sure enough, when I got home, car would not start
again.
I suspect a bad sensor somewhere. Familiar with dumping codes on the
type 44's, but not on this beast. Can anyone enlighten me?
Patient is a 95.5 S6. I'm the 3rd owner. Previous owner had doen a lot
to it, 034 coil kit, Samco hoses, MTM chipset, etc..
Thank much.
