[s-cars] miss at idle

Matt,

I would highly suspect that just like mine were when I replaced them a
number of years ago almost all the wiring under the coil cover is cracked
and brittle. I wound up just replacing all the coils at the time since all
the wiring was so bad all the way up to the coil and the only way to replace
the wiring right up to the coil is with a new coil.

Subject: [s-cars] miss at idle

Hi Gang-

92 s4, 186,000 miles, original coils and POS's if you can believe it!

I've followed the diag instructions on audiworld and Charlie's site
(thanks Charlie and Dave F)) but haven't come to any definite
conclusions.
Symptom is miss at idle and under load (I think, hard to tell in 35mph
zone!), unplugging connector for injector 2 causes no change so i'm
guessing that's the problem cylinder. Swapped to the extra "channel"
of the POS , no change. Swapped in known good plug and boot, same.
so i'm suspecting coil at this point. Other ideas or am i on the
right track?

2 more questions: aftermarket source for a couple coils or dealer
only? I'm not planning on going to the 1.8 conversion at this point.
Anyone have some in the Rossato bin (tm) for sale?

and finally, those 3 and 4 pin connectors were SUPER brittle and
partially crumbled away when switching the connections so I'd like to
replace them. Dealer only? anyone have a harness from a 1.8t coil
pack conversion lying around or are those connectors reused at the 4
pin (ecu signal) side?

TIA for any help,

-Matt, CO
