To you buyers,

This thread does not seem to die so I'll add my 2 cents.

I, too, had a 1981 Scirocco S, white with red interior.  
It was a bucket of rust. I bought it new and sold it in 
1986 to get a new GTI.  The GTI ate its tranny and that 
was the last time I ever looked at owning a VW. Both cars
were a lot of fun but hardly durable.

I had a 81 Red S, too.
Loved it until I totaled it on a long left hand sweeper and
sneezed...drifted into the gravel on the right hand side, over corrected and
it spun backwards into a ditch on the opposite side

There seems to still be some running in some of the SCCA classes?

To this day can't believe I sold my '81 sidwinder "S" in 1992  for $1k and a
cell phone
I never used.  Anyone want a cell phone - you know the 5 lb Motorola jobbie?
