As some of you know, I recently asked for The List's feedback on the Apikol
kit for our S cars. The kit replaces the stock POS and coils with those used
in a 1.8 (info here: www.apikol.com).
I went ahead and installed the kit and promised to report back on how the
system worked.
Yesterday I had reason to travel from Boulder, Co up to Vail over some nice
mountain passes, with steep grades and about 200 + miles round trip, as well
as the opportunity to hammer the car when traffic (a lack of it) allowed.
I admit that I'm really happy with the way that the system is working. Car
runs great, hits boost easily and no problems with anything at all.
I will say, and maybe this is just my mind trying to "feel" something
different, but the is a very tiny difference in throttle response, with
stock being better. I only noticed it on the steepest hills. Maybe it's me,
or something else with the car, but who cares, because the car is damn fast
regardless.
I'll keep track of coil longevity, which seems to be the only complaint
regarding this system, and will report back if and when appropriate.
Thanks to all who took the time to provide feedback, etc.
