Subject: [s-cars] CPS or no CPS, that is the question.
Hi again Y'all,
A couple of weeks ago I was forced into the infamous BFPHFH (large
pot hole from heck) and the car suffered a BIG jar at the RF
corner. A second or so later the engine faltered and then
immediately caught again. The falter was a complete engine shut-off
not just a missing cylinder. The falter happened again another 5-6
timr before I made the last two miles home. The car, at that time,
felt like it did back months earlier when I had a failed CPS (crank
position sensor) so I replaced the CPS and the car ran fine again -
for a while.
So - today - I took the S6 out to pick up some stuff for the better
half. Engine faltered three times on me. Just like before I
replaced the CPS. I'm thinking it wasn't the CPS. Now what sez
I? I didn't notice whether the tach responded to the falter or
not. I wasn't really looking for it and I didn't notice any tach
activity with peripheral vision.
Suggestions?
Bob
