[s-cars] CPS or no CPS, that is the question.

Bob,
I had a similar situation long ago. Engine would cut out every once
and a while and then run fine. Finally, it died completely on the
freeway and required a flatbed to the wrench. Initially, the
suspicion fell on the CPS, but after some sleuthing, the wrench
decided that it was something inside the CPU. Sometimes the car would
start, but when the CPU was tapped with the handle of a screwdriver,
the car would die.
Turned out that it was a bad eprom that was part of the MTM chip
upgrade that I had done a couple of months prior. A new chip was
swapped in and I have not had that problem again. Though I did have
to put a new CPS in a couple of years later.
