[s-cars] Wheel dilemma

Tony-
Centering rings are not really a problem- nearly all aftermarket wheels use
them and I've never heard of a problem with them except for your experience.

Shorter sidewall on a narrower wheel doesn't work because the shorter
sidewall doesn't flex as much and putting a wide tire on a narrower wheel
doesn't allow for enough flexibility for the sidewall to properly seat on
the rim, if that makes sense.

You're not going to benefit much by trying to put a 245 on a 7.5" wheel- use
a 225/45 if you're doing a 7.5.

Replicas are usually crappy- if you want cheap, I'd look to see if you can
find a set of takeoff wheels from a B7 A4- they have plenty of caliper
clearance and are usually 17x7.5 or 18x8.
