application.  However, I believe the dwell from the Motronic controller is

closer to 3 milliseconds based on the spec's of similar COP coils using E-=
I

laminations.  So this would reduce the spark energy compared to a 5 msec

dwell.



 What may be a little confusing is that the coil is not acting as a simple

transformer, but as an inductor that stores energy. The rate at which the

current ramps up in the primary winding is directly proportional to the

applied voltage. Also, the energy stored in the coil is proportional to th=
e

square of this current.  So the energy will quadruple if you either double

the applied voltage or double the dwell time.
