[s-cars] Oil Leak - Driver's Side of Engine

You don't have to do it during an oil change - just make sure you don't do it with the engine running. :)

You can use an NPT fitting and a tee to plumb both the stock sensor and your aftermarket sensor.

So by the time an oil pressure light comes I'm assuming the oil is so low
that you better make a decision to stop that baby from spinning right away!
Replacement of the sensor sounds simple when doing an oil change. I didn't
seen the sensor part number in any of the posts?

Does the sensor have the capacity to split in multiple directions as in
continue onto the oil pressure light and a pressure gauge as well or does
the collective wisdom of the group recommend getting a pressure gauge tapped
into somewhere else or eliminate the light? Frankly I'd prefer just
eliminating the light and go with a stand alone electrical/mechanical gauge,
but I'm sure the Audi gods wouldn't allow that ; ^)

This is a common failure, Tom, and in some cases, the center will blow

out of

the sensor creating a big leak. If it was easy to find, I would not

delay on the

repair. If you get a big leak on the road, the only thing to aid in

averting disaster

is that pressure switch indicating you are out of oil pressure (and

oil)--if it works.

Dave indicates they are cheap, so buy two and have a spare handy.

Tom
