I had a '93 300d td for a while. The only thing I loved about that 
car was the fuel economy -- never below 30 mpg and a consistent 35 
mpg on the highway.

Ergonomically it's a generation behind the C4 A6. It had a soft, 
plush ride and soft, plush seats. Yecch. It also was awful in 
snow...and this was with 4 new Nokian RSi snow tires.

Spend some time with one of these cars before you commit. Yes, 
they're attractive. I always wanted one. Now that's out of my 
system. :)

Would my experience have been different with a 400E or 500E for 
summer use only? Probably...

But for your daughter, in your area, why not a nice clean C4 A6 
quattro?
