[s-cars] NAC - Benz 300E Questions

My car was in Japan its whole life, where most of these were bought for cash ($200K+) back in the go-go economy days. Since 90% of these were Yakuza cars, I expected it to come with some 'spare' fingers in the trunk, but no such luck. :)

Mine is a little more special than most because it was built by AMG Japan, as opposed to a tuner shop buying the AMG parts and then assembling it for the customer. Very few can be verified as built by AMG. So it has the original AMG owner's manual, AMG break-in badges, correct stickers, and most importantly, the AMG VIN# metal badge on the doorjamb. Condition is very good, not great, but it runs well, and definitely goes.

I've gotten two speeding tickets in the last 10 years, both in this car. 93 in a 55, and 69 in a 45. Ugh.

Why would Porsche shoot themselves in the foot? They have some of the most loyal owner base of any brand. If VW does that to Porsche, I'll be pissed.

You all do know that the AMG 560 6.0 32v that Bruce was talking about is a fully custom engine with a custom AMG 32v DOHC head, custom AMG bodywork, wheels, transmission mods, etc. that were done by AMG long before AMG became a division within Mercedes-Benz.

That's kind of like talking about an Alpina B10 Biturbo and the parts that are unique to an Alpina.

One wonders if P-Cars will go the same way. You can purchase pretty much
anything for the 911/930 with lots of interchange. One day that might
change, particularly after the nasty Porsche-VW saga.
