[s-cars] NAC - Benz 300E Questions]

With 5 good glow plugs I could start my Benz diesel year-round in NH. And I
ran Delo 15w40 dino oil all year round (as specified in the manual).

The biggest risk in cold weather is having the fuel gel in the line and
filter. Additives like Diesel Kleen prevent that, and do other good stuff
too.

Starting it in 20 below (F) with that oil was a trip - I'd hold the throttle
wide open AFTER it fired. I'd barely get 500 rpm at first, and it would
slowly climb toward 1000. Taper throttle until it held idle - about a
minute. Sounds like abuse, but those cars are "different". I loved mine.
I owned my UrS4, a Suburban, and this 300TD all at the same time - those 3
vehicles pretty much cover the gamut of what we call "cars".
