That's why I'm curious about the symptoms.  You say "running rich" but
I'm not sure why you think that is so.  Smell?  It sounds like you
don't have any sort of digital readout indicating mixture via a
wideband O2 signal, and you have no codes.  So why do you think it is
running rich?

The cat is behind the O2 sensor.  Its presence or absence is
immaterial.  The only real issue it can cause is when it becomes
plugged and creates obstruction.
