Jeff...
I didn't rebuild the rear calipers, but I did work on the e-brake
mechanisms (extended the pivot rod, emery clothed the rod, and re-lubed)
so you should be good to go since I KNOW you won't take that car out in
the winter........;-)

Peter:
thanks for that New England maintenance tip on NAPA ' #6405 cam' seal
emulation.. and supre lube!
now that I own 2 sets,( 2 old S4's..late to the RS2 party I am) I'll do
that job in the summer..
ALso heard a rumor, that the Aluminum calipers from the A8 can be fitted
to the C4 chassis sleds.
THanks to Greg W.. below
Is there any field life testing on Aluminum A8 calipers? Bill you gots
one of those whattaya say?
And I'll be sure to promote the most famous piggy of them all to all
interested in buying a Red Avant!

The A8 rear caliper is a bolt up to the UrS carriers. The caliper is
aluminum and it is a center pull ebrake as is the UrS calipers. The
location of
the ebrake hookup is a little different, but should work. You will
need to
ream out the ebrake cable stop, because it is a little smaller on the
A8 caliper.
You can see pictures of both calipers on this write up I did when, I
did an
upgrade on the rear brakes on my coupe.

/........There's a common misconception that the rear caliper parking
brake
issues can be resolved with new or stronger springs.Installing new or
the Ford Granada return springs only masks the real issue -moisture
penetrates the seal between the caliper parking brake cam rod and the
caliper body, corroding the shaft inside the caliper.
The fact is that a new or properly rebuilt caliper doesn't actually
need the return spring, as the internal caliper piston spring is
actually strong enough to index the parking brake.
