[s-cars] Battery in Cold Weather

Battery tender.

The available cranking amps on the battery are relative (inverse log, if I
recall) to temperature. Add to this the fact that you probably have some
battery drain with the car off and the cables/wiring don't allow for full
amperage to the starter (making for a longer cranking time).

And running the car for 10 minutes at idle is probably not enough to
recharge the battery. Driving the car for 10 minutes should be about what
it takes (general rule of thumb).

Or, if you don't drive the car much, disconnect the battery and store
inside.

And your current battery may be toast. 1 year old doesn't mean it's not
shot. Get it on a Midtronics tester. I now test all batteries with the
Midtronics. I've refused several brand new batteries because they test weak
(after a top-off charge).

C-tek is the charger to have, especially if you have any AGM (Optima, etc.)
batteries.
