Give me one of example of the government "doing it better" than the private sector & I'll believe you.
From what I've seen so far, I have a healthy sense of skepticism.

Sorry Pizzo, you didn't earn your "brown shirt" this morning...
But please, keep trying. One day you'll realize that the government can, and will, just do it better.....

What work in MA won't necessarily work nationwide. What is being proposed now is turning the current competitive free market system into a single payer system while the MA system simply penalizes those that do not have coverage. All existing plans will not be able to add any new members once the new system is integrated. This doesn't even touch upon the simple fact that we, as a nation, simply can not afford any additional taxation if the economy is to come out of this recession. Putting the onus on employers to pay for healthcare will only lead to more layoffs in addition to putting a lot of people on the private insurer benefits side completely out of work.
While it would be nice, we really can't afford to do it without increasing taxes, which will hinder any ability we had to get out of the current mess we're in. If I had 20 employees with an overall payroll cost of 2MM & I now have to provide healthcare to all employees, I am either going to reduce the number of employees or reduce profit.
That's an easy decision.

It is already free for the millions of uninsured. That's why it's so
expensive for the rest of us, because we have to pay, right now, every
day, for the existing "free" care. Let's get some fiscal
responsibility, and eliminate this "free" care, and start paying, out
in the open, for it. What we have in Massachusetts works, and it is
certainly not free. Massachusetts, certainly one of the most liberal
states in the country, looks the most fiscally responsible when it
comes to paying for health care.
