Tom,
Great response

Totally agreed on cutting the piece of plastic across the top of the light
diffuser, looks to be a part of the structure to keep it together! Plus it's
going to show as a cut edge or smoothed at the least!

Cutting the handle does seem to be the only way to get it to work, pity that
when I purchased the center section that Alex didn't get the Avant ones as
was requested for my car. Wish that I would have tried to place this on the
car when it came, like how many years ago. I didn't really think that Audi
would have made two different handles, but rather two different center
pieces. Shame they couldn't have engineered the darn thing to work on sedans
and/or Avants....geee wouldn't that have made sense?

I have participated in two group buys by europrice which means at least
10 for each buy and several avants-several previous GB's also.

The avant center section shown in european photos has an opening for
the handle instead of the license plate lighting diffuser. All those
sold
here had the solid clear diffuser that interferes with the handle. I
would
not cut the plastic section since I think it reinforces the piece.

Instead the answer is to cut the horizontal section of the handle off,
leaving
only the vertical portion protruding down from the lock opening with the
boot around it. The handle is a little more stealthy for someone not
in the
know, but it works great. Baloney claims to have dremeled his off in
situ,
but if you are refurbishing the interior panels and have them removed,
it is
a simple process to remove the handle and cut it off.

I like Audi's genuine sealant cord for a sure seal on the lights and
even use
some pieces for attaching the license plate instead of bolts. I also
trimmed
the license plate slightly to better fit the euro plate section--fake
plastic bolt
heads in sealing cord to complete the look.
