Jackin' the gate~

"OK so I'm trying to splice the wires!"
".How do I get to the connector."
"Pull on it.. isn't going to work"
"I'll never get it reconnected."
"Is there a tunnel."
"I want to have more to work with"
"..if I botch it I'll have to replace the harness!"
"I have the feeling I'm going to end up in the same boat "

Jack,
Sounds like we need an intervention.
These here hatches are a major PITA. Don't get me started. The whole
design is just a disaster.
Let's review:
Pisser hasn't worked in years. Forget it.
Inside roller on the latch broke a pin necessitating a new handle but
provided an opportunity to cut this one before installation. (although I did
cut the first one in place.)
Key hole hasn't worked in years.
Wiper motor works fine but the arm needs constant lube to stay on the glass.
I had successful rust perforation along the aforementioned seam 4 wks.
before 10 years so Audi gave me new one. but THAT was NOT easy.
Of course subsequent to that the reinstall has left an intermittent and half
a defroster and the lock no longer locks. but I figure what the heck, I got
a free door. ( I think the dealer body shop wound up gluing half the trim
back on and seemed real happy to see me leave.)
One broken clasp on the hidden access door to tail lights.
Numerous pins, tabs broken on interior trim. Some even replaced.
Screws for sunshade always come out because of stupid, stupid kids but more
so because they just screw into soft sheet metal.
Clear coat peels off of spoiler because it's made of molded shit that
expands and contracts.
So,
Hang in there.
I would do your project over a week and take it a step at a time providing
many beer breaks.
Thanks for listening.
