[s-cars] 90k service (timing belt)?

Agree. Same as V8 Timing belt service. With the high torque belt, the
v8 service interval was 90k in the book. When Audi found 3 standards
from the mean on broken timing belts was 72k, Audi issued a TSB for that
to be 60k. The S car uses the same design belt.

As a rule, I say 60k or 5years. At 4years I start calling the customer.
I've bought 2 v8's with busted belts that didn't make 90k. At 96k, you
are beyond borrowed time.

Alex,

The belt manufacturers were recommending 60K or 5 years in the time
frame these cars were built. I see no indication that belt quality
has improved,
so I stick with that. Audi has vacillated on the issue. Newer
vehicles with improved lubrication and thin oil may produce less
stress on the belt and
warrant the higher change mileage.

If I had 96K on my belt I would change it before I drove it. I would
make sure that whoever does the work knows what they are doing. This
is no longer
an item that most dealers do best. With list guidance, rental tools,
and Bentley, it can be a DIY job.
