I'd go with tapping into the rail, too.

FWIW, when I put a gauge in my '91 200 TQA #2, I cut the fuel line tube
and spliced the gauge in using some FI fuel line with hose clamps.  It
may, *may*, have been the reason #2 when up in a ball of flames due to
an fire under the hood some months later.  I'll never know. If it was,
it was a costly mistake.
